Potable Water in Hospitals
WHy?
With the worsening of the crisis in Venezuela, the deterioration of public services has reached unprecedented levels. Access to water, in particular, has become critical because reservoirs, water treatment systems, and pipelines are poorly maintained. At a national level, 82% of Venezuelans must rely on alternative water sources, some of which are not guaranteed to be safe for consumption. This situation is particularly critical in state hospitals, where reports of children’s deaths caused by waterborne bacteria have been alarming.
How We Have Helped
Since 2018, we have donated and installed three water treatment systems to produce potable water in the kitchens of large hospitals with a footfall of more than 50,000 people per year. These units have allowed patients, visitors, and staff to have access to clean water and meals. Over time, we have not only maintained the plants but also expanded their reach to other areas beyond the kitchens, such as operating theatres, emergency rooms, and nurseries adjacent to hospitals. To date, our water treatment plants have produced +4 million litres of potable water, benefiting more than 300,000 people.
