Reproductive Health

why?

Access to reproductive health and family planning services is non-existent for most low-income women, including teenagers, in Venezuela. The last official statistics revealed a 65% increase in maternal mortality, with 75% of these deaths occurring among teenage mothers. Meanwhile, sexually transmitted infections are also on the rise. Malnutrition, abuse, and limited access to contraception not only contribute to these alarming figures but also help perpetuate the cycle of poverty.

how have we helped

Since 2018, we have supported over 2,600 women — including teenagers — by providing them with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about their reproductive health and ensure safer pregnancies. As part of our programme, we run awareness workshops and offer screenings for sexually transmitted infections. Many of our beneficiaries have been able to return to school or secure stable employment, gaining financial independence and breaking the cycle of unplanned pregnancies and poverty. We are now also providing women with delivery kits for safe, normal, and caesarean births in hospitals.
