Second Quarterly Report 2025

Dear Friends and supporters,

These past few weeks have witnessed a devastating spiral of violence across the Middle East. To the already existing wars, in the plural, new battlefronts have erupted, and hopes for an end to long-standing conflicts are vanishing under the devastation of bombs and the looming spectre of famine.

Yet, we must keep ploughing on, supporting those we can, when and where we can. Building hope and showing empathy are more crucial than ever. And this is exactly what we are doing at Healing Venezuela.

While the humanitarian emergency continues in the country, ours has become a protracted and neglected crisis. The world has pretty much forgotten about us.

It’s only thanks your generosity that we have been able to deliver concrete, life-changing support where it’s needed most.

Every litre of clean water, every meal served, every medical consultation delivered have alleviate some of the suffering of the less privileged in Venezuela, which is the vast majority of the population. All made possible thanks to you.

Here’s what we’ve achieved together from April to June 2025.

Your support allowed us to continue funding 60 junior doctors across Venezuela. With a modest $75 monthly scholarship, these young professionals provide lifesaving care in public hospitals, often under the most difficult circumstances. During Q2, they performed 37,000+ consultation,

Four months before graduating as a general practitioner, my father , our sole provider, passed away. His absence impacted me deeply, both emotionally and financially. Without Healing Venezuela’s support, I would have had to abandon my gynaecology and obstetrics training. Today, thanks to your help, I can continue pursuing my professional dream and care for patients in need.” — Dr María Gabriela

There was a moment when I was ready to give up, my salary as a resident was minimal and I had so many family responsibilities, including surviving thyroid cancer. Then came the message I was hoping for: I’d been selected for Healing Venezuela’s support. I cried with relief. This help allows me to buy essential medicine and contribute food for my family. Thanks to you, I keep fighting for my dream.” — Dr Oriana Serrano

Thanks to your generosity, our potable water systems supplied a total of 92,593 litres of clean water this quarter to patients, families, and staff at:

– Materno Infantil de Caricuao: 35,976 litres
– Hospital Vargas de Caracas: 46,320 litres
–
A new plant installed at the Materno Infantil, now is serving Dentistry, Gynaecology, and Preschool. It produced 10,297 litres

As part of our routine maintenance, we repaired and reinstalled the water pump in the labour ward of Materno Infantil, ensuring mothers and babies have safe water at a critical time.
In the past quarter alone, our potable water plants in hospitals produced a combined total of 79,080 litres of clean water benefiting patients, visitors, doctors and staff.

This quarter, the children hospital Jose Manuel de Los Ríos, refurbished and upgraded the water treatment plant. They will be in charge of its routine maintenance and repairs.

Between April and June, we provided over 10,650 meals to children in the Guaraunos community.

After more than five years, as we prepare to close down the food programme in July 2025, we celebrate a lasting impact: eight local women now run their own small farming businesses, creating a sustainable future for the village.

To those of you who very generously have contributed to the food programme with monthly direct debits, please consider keep supporting our junior doctors scholarship programme.

Currently we sponsor 61 junior doctors with a $75  monthly remittance (their salaries are around the same amount). It is the most expensive programme we run, but, because of its rippling effect, it´s is undoubtedly the most impactful programme.

We would be extremely grateful if you continue supporting us, but if not possible, please cancel your direct debit through your bank.

We were delighted to conclude our strategic alliance between SOS Telemedicina and Healing Venezuela Inc in the USA.

Our partnership with ALAPLAF continues to provide essential reproductive healthcare to women at risk.

While we faced delays in receiving contraceptive implants, weekly clinics ensured that women could access IUDs as a safe alternative. We remain committed to ensuring every woman who seeks help receives the care she needs.

Thanks to your continued support, the Healing Venezuela / SVMI IM-POCUS Project has made extraordinary progress.

Phase I: We successfully launched a point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) training programme for internal medicine at the HUC/Razetti postgraduate school of the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Since 2023, three portable ultrasound machines donated by Healing Venezuela have helped train 19 doctors and faculty. These devices are used daily to improve diagnostic accuracy and patient care, supported by six POCUS champions supervising their use.

Phase II: Starting mid-2025, we will expand training to all UCV-affiliated teaching hospitals, develop formal curricula, and deliver new equipment and training.

Phase III: Our long-term goal is to bring POCUS training nationwide, assessing needs and delivering tailored support

This past quarter. we held our most successful Zumbathon ever, the most attended, joyful, and vibrant yet, bringing our community together in support of Venezuela.

In Northern Ireland, we hosted a Coffee Morning on 27 April to support Safe Delivery for Mothers (Parto Seguro para las Madres). Thank you to everyone who joined and contributed so generously.

We were delighted to be chosen as a strategic partner of the Raindance Film Festival, helping to raise awareness through the power of film and storytelling.

Finally, we continued to raise awareness globally about Venezuela’s ongoing health crisis, ensuring that the voices of those most affected are heard on the international stage.
